Des Smyth launches Seapoint Open Days during Irish Open Week in Co. Louth

International golfer and vice captain of Europe’s Ryder Cup team, Des Smyth, urged golfers to avail of the great deals currently on offer in Ireland’s top golf courses as a result of the economic downturn.

Speaking at the launch of two open days in Seapoint Golf Club, Termonfeckin, Co Louth on 12th and 13th May, Des said that the special rate of €25 per person gives those travelling to Co Louth for the Irish Open, an ideal opportunity to play on one of the best links courses in Ireland.

 “There is great value in golf available and I believe Louth is leading the way. For example golfers can play in an open competition in Seapoint Golf Club during Irish Open week for only €25 per person.

I designed Seapoint links course almost 20 years ago with amateur golfer, Declan Branigan and I am delighted in the way it has matured. So if you are attending the Irish Open in Baltray, then come up  to us a day early and play Seapoint, which backs on to venue for the Irish Open venue in May,” he said.

The links course is a testing 7,150 yard Par 72 course set on 260 acres of magnificent links land. There is an abundance of natural vegetation and wonderful dunes awaiting any errant shot. Every club in the bag is required to play this championship course. Progress through a front nine with a slightly heath land feel with an abundance of gorse and mature trees lining the boundary off the course. Water comes into play on 5 of the holes.
